Project Tampa: Transforming Defence Manufacturing Through Collaborative AM

Project Tampa represents a significant step forward in accelerating additive manufacturing adoption across the UK defence landscape. Focused on true cross‑domain manufacturing, the initiative has demonstrated how transparent collaboration between UK and US industry, the Ministry of Defence and DOW can overcome challenges in interoperability and equivalency. Through shared learning, open technical and digital development, continuous problem solving, the project has strengthened supply chain resilience and reduced barriers to adopting additive manufacturing as another critical ‘tool in the box’.

This introductory session sets the scene for a morning of insightful presentations which bring together defence partners involved in UK’s Project Tampa and US’ Allied Additive Manufacturing Interoperability (AAMI) Project to share the lessons, breakthroughs and real‑world impacts that have ultimately shaped the MOD’s Advanced Manufacturing Strategy. Attendees will gain a unique, multi‑perspective understanding of how coordinated collaboration can transform capability delivery across the defence sector.
