Lockheed Martin Allied Additive Manufacturing Interoperability
The Allied Additive Manufacturing Interoperability (AAMI) project is an America Makes funded initiative aimed at establishing Additive Manufacturing (AM) equivalency and interoperability across US and UK supply chains. The AAMI program has been structured in a manner such that technical, regulatory and data-related barriers are identified that currently limit the ability to manufacture AM parts interchangeably across allied nations, even when similar materials, processes and equipment are used.
The Lockheed Martin AAMI team have partnered with ASTM International to ensure that the best practices guide for both the Operational Qualification and Performance Qualification are widely applicable. The LM Team selected to produce parts at US and UK based vendors using a prescribed technical data package. Lessons learned from this project will shape best practices for internal and external processes covering approvals, licensing, secure data transfer, to enable part production in the global allied sustainment network.
